My name is Carlo Ierna and I’m a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). I have a Master’s degree both in Philosophy and in Cognitive Artificial Intelligence from Utrecht University and obtained my PhD in Philosophy from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 2009 with a thesis on the early philosophy of Edmund Husserl. My current research project concerns the philosophy of mathematics and logic in the School of Brentano, and more in general I’m interested in the history and philosophy of logic and mathematics in the 19th and early 20th century.
Normally, I’d be working at the Husserl-Archives Leuven, but from 5 September 2011 to 5 February 2012 I’m a visiting researcher at the department of Philosophy of Utrecht University. Here I would like to finish my book on early Husserl and prepare a new research project. This is my main reason for starting a blog: I think it will be very useful to make my research process and progress public in order to get feedback and comments. I also think that, just like teaching, explaining my thoughts to others will force me to become much clearer on what I’m doing.
In the next few posts, I’ll try to provide a general idea of the structure and aims of my book and give a first rough sketch of my new research project. Thanks for tuning in and feel free to comment below!
